: : I was wondering if any of the creators of the MoD would
: : be opposed to custom maps made for the game......
: : If not would they require any custom entities or any special
: : environment designs that anyone there would like....

: When designning maps for NH keep in mind enviroment stuff, lava, slime, water, sky and transpearant windows.

: A certain amount of this stuff is realy needed so you don't HAVE to use yer LIGHT. Any map without any of the above (q2dm8) makes it a "predator" feeding frenze map.

: Then there is the "goodies" that are also vissable, these should create "corner markers" and such.. If you play NH enough and try play WITHOUT light you will get the idea.

I'll just add to this:

1) Maps with the power armor, easily accessible rocket launcher, quad, or invulnerability
are obviously more difficult for the predator.

2) Maps that are very linear, that is without a lot of branches, are also more difficult for the predator.

3) The rocket launcher, because of it's "splash", is the prime predator hunting weapon.
If the rocket launcher is difficult to get at, then the map is harder for the marines.

4) As Cat said, the fewer the references in a map, the more often players will have to
turn on their flashlights. This makes it easier for the predator.
By references, I mean sky, lights, items, lava, water.

5) The less lava there is in a level, the less likely someone is going to take an intentional dive as the
predator. That's not to say that you shouldn't put lava in a level.
Water may be a better choices. The downside to water is, you have to leave a way to get out. :^}

The DM maps are generally better for the predator. They generally are not linear, leaving
many "escape" routes available. The single player maps tend to be more linear, and
therefore more difficult for the predator.

There's nothing wrong with a map that's difficult for the predator. In fact,
it's nice to have a variety. Just recognize the kind of map you are trying to build.
