The Flares were originaly aimed at this as a balance but they are NOT effectively used by marines. They seem to chuck'em about without thought or use them stupidly to light up other marines. like chucking them at a marine that is camped out at a cross-road, killing his cover..

The jumping is great for getaways. I can be off before most marines know I'm gone.

Rocket jumping with the predators new overload feature will make most parts of any
map accessible.

The hook has been discussed but will probably not make it into the next release.

: hehe, not a bad idea. but yes, might be morelikley to surprise other marines and get themselves killed. BUT, lots of marines have learned to navigate without much light and are equaly liable.

Ping based handicapping is difficult to implement. I prefer skill based or score
based handicapping.

: Some do abuse this, but if you play long enought you notice that they are not that great a player anyway and do get killed soon enough. Where it becomes a problem is with better players that do it. In one exagerated example on player used the KILL cmd when ever they got hurt somewhat. We created the "b" version patch for this, effectively taking the KILL cmd out. In the next version a KILL issued by the pred' effectively passes the pred' to another and logs them as not being eligible to get the pred' back that way. (if only 2 players did this there would be no pred' 'til someone else joins)
: Getting back to "suicide", the in-game teleport was ment to help this and make lava suicide escapeable, accidents -do- happen. The tele' could have a few more like say 3 or 5, and suicide passes ped'. It turns out the tele' system is way more powerful and can make the pred' incredibly hard to kill. So we have left it at this point, as is.
: There are other variations of suicide that can not be easily countered or are quite accidental. I have died as pred' a coupla times now by hitting a marine up close with a rocket and died is my own splash damage.

I think the one shot teleport adds a lot to the game. Using it to trap marines adds a challenge.
Sometimes, I'll even try to set up a telefrag (only successful twice so far). :)

The next version will have predator suicide options.

: This one is fluff, could be there, doesn't need to be there.. most whine about lava/slime maps but "is part of the game". Only suggestion is "think before you leap.." ..haR! Some are very good at dodging, but not so good at where they dodge too ...skipping a map because of this gives them an advantage. This them throws out the balance designed in. Thse persons would dominate non-lava/slime maps, yet not on laval/slime maps.
: What we are planning is a twin or possibly triple map list. Fewer players use the small-map list, more players and it slides onto bigger maps. Alot of players and we go to real big maps and 2 predators and team chat for both.. a good possiblity of this third variation.
: Generaly NH "likes" a shade larger map per player. Too small and the marines get slaughtered as they have little room to get weapons/armor.

I'm open to any ideas. However, we only currently use two maps with invulnerability.

I reserve judgement on this one. As I've said, ping based options are difficult to get working
properly. However, I'll look at it.
