: I posted this as a response to and earlier message, but it was old
: and was not sure anyone would see it. I would like to hear
: what people think of this.

: I like the Idea of the tracking device, Even just using a
: Poxsimity sensor. I think However that it should Id all moving
: targets that come into range of the sensor. That way you know
: something is there but the question would be what.

: This would force several things to happen.

: Since you could not get a visual on the target, you would
: have two options, blind fire, risking friendly fire
: or Flash light, which would give away your posision.

: since Killing other players gets you kicked off, Option one is bad
: since turning on your flashlight with a preditor in the area
: well, gets you killed. it balances the use of said Item
: and forces teamwork amoung the mariens, hence all
: the Marrines could place a sensor in an area and set
: a crossfire, since they are stationary and know the
: others are there then any thing that moves through the
: area is the predator, and thus you oculd spray and pray.
: Note cross fire tactics are dangerious in the dark
: and should be well thought out by your team!

I'd love to look at this. We've talked about it from time to time.

There are several issues here:

1) Balance

If the tracker located only the predator, that might give the marines too much power.
On the other hand, the tracker could use cells for power. In fact, we could
replace the BFG with the tracker. So marines would actually have to pick up
the tracker on maps, find cells to power it, then use it. It
gives them a brief glimpse of where the pred is and costs 50 cells.
That isn't TOO powerful.

2) Performance

A continually updating tracker in use by all marines at the same
time is gonna lag the game seriously. Imagine the engine having to
find all players, figure out if they're close enough to trigger your
tracker, then display some indication of location and distance.
Imagine it having to do this for ALL players!

Hmm. I kinda like the BFG as tracker idea. It's unused now, and the
restrictions I've mentioned keep it from being too powerful.
